What do we teach?
We advance students in a Tae Kwon Do based system however, we have included techniques and concepts from Boxing, Akido, Jujitsu, and Kung fu.
The best defense is avoidance but if that’s not possible our students learn to use their hands, feet elbows & knees so they can defend themselves in almost any situation.
Weapons training is also available as part of the Black Belt Club. We train with Nunchaku, Bo Staff, Escrima, Sword, Tonfa, Sai and Shuriken.
The Academy’s Instructor
I have been teaching Martial Arts full time since 1987 and established six Academies in Somerset, Hunterdon, Union, Mercer and Middlesex Counties.
After earning my Black Belt in 1984 I began competing Nationally and Internationally. In addition to earning 1st place honors in National Tournaments in Newark NJ, Little Rock AK, Pensacola FL, Birmingham AL, New Orleans LA, and Mobile AL I am most proud of a 2nd place finish in Madison Square Garden in 1988.
In 1993 I competed in the first ever Martial Arts Tournament in St. Petersburg, Russia earning two Gold Medals. I was tasked with running a Judging Clinic that was translated in Russian, Spanish, Hungarian and French. I was asked to perform a demonstration at the Closing Ceremonies of the three-day event and did two of my favorites Dueling Banjos and the Pink Panther.
Over the years I have hosted close to sixty Regional Tournaments and two National Tournaments. Currently, I co-host two Regional Tournaments in New Jersey and am on a National Tournament Committee for Innovative Martial Arts Systems.
